Non-B Visa and Work Permit Application Process
- In applying for a work permit in Thailand, foreigners must first apply for a visa or change the visa to a Non-Immigrant Visa “B”/Non-B. There are 2 ways to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa “B”:
- Apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa “B” at a Thai embassy or consulate abroad.
- Apply for a change of visa to a Non-Immigrant Visa “B” to the Immigration Bureau in cases where foreigners have already traveled to Thailand on a Tourist Visa, Transit Visa, ผ.30, ผผ.30 ผผ.90 and APEC visas. Foreigners must apply to change the visa to a Non-Immigrant Visa. Non-Immigrant Visa “B” at least 15 days before the visa expires.
When the visa is stamped as a Non-Immigrant Visa “B/Non-B for work, the Immigration Bureau officer will approve the period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days. However, you must apply for a work permit (Work Permit) with the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor. The officer will approve the work permit for the period of time. The officer will consider granting permission based on the necessity of the work or as requested and depends on the performance of the workplace. However, the period is not more than 2 years at a time. Normally, the officer will grant a period of 1 year, but it depends on the company. You can request a work period of 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.
- Once you have received the work permit, you can apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa “B” Non-B to the Immigration Bureau for a period of stay in the Kingdom of 1 year. However, in the case that foreigners have not yet traveled to Thailand, employers can apply for a work permit (Work Permit) on behalf of employees first. Foreign employees must show up and receive a work permit (Work Permit) within 30 days. However, this requirement has other details that we can provide advice and service to customers as well.
